11 May Lessons from the Wahs
Backing the team all the way – because that’s how we roll – go the Wahs!
No, we weren’t there to install passive fire protection at The Bellagio (although that would be a great gig), we were there to watch the NZ Warriors season debut and enjoy some good times together.
You may know that Passive Fire NZ’s Founder & CEO, Awen Guttenbeil was one of the NZ Warriors longest serving players, a stalwart of 11 years to be exact – and now, as ambassador for the club, the passion is well and truly still there for him, and in our PFNZ team.
Awen’s team-first mentality drives our daily operations at Passive Fire NZ. It’s become a natural part of how we work and a powerful force in keeping us aligned. We know the best teams, whether on the field or on the job, aren’t just about individual talent, but how well they execute together. This is something our team speaks about every week when delivering work for clients – and it was reinforced at our awesome getaway to Las Vegas.
While a trip to see the NZ Warriors play on the other side of the world might sound like a pretty indulgent getaway, we got so much out of it as a team – plus memories to last a lifetime… It was amazing to see Awen in his element, sharing his passion for the game with us, even when the result wasn’t the one we’d hoped for. While the team on the field didn’t take the win, we witnessed a high-performing team operate under pressure, and experience the huge, unwavering support of their fans, over 10,000 of whom made the trip to the USA to support the Wahs. It was also a reminder, as the last couple of games have shown us – that you can always build on where you start. From the looks of the results since that season debut, the team has only got stronger – and the trip definitely united us as a crew too! It was sensational to share this experience with some like-minded leaders & great colleagues in the NZ construction space – thanks for joining us. Up the Wahs! – Joe & the Passive Fire Crew.
