Summerset Waikanae is a large scale retirement village development on the Kāpiti Coast in the Wellington region, comprising independent villas and cottages, serviced apartments, and integrated care facilities including rest home and hospital level care.
Passive Fire NZ was engaged to deliver the full passive fire scope for the Residential Main Building (RMB) within the development, ensuring compliance with New Zealand Building Code life safety requirements.
Works commenced on 24 January, with more than 3,000 specialist installation hours delivered over a 12 month period.
Our scope included fire stopping of service penetrations and protection of fire rated walls and floors to maintain required compartmentation throughout the building. All passive fire systems were installed in accordance with tested and approved details, with a consistent focus on clean, concealed, and inspection ready finishes.
Collaboration with the Summerset site team was strong from the outset, with a shared commitment to compliance and quality workmanship.
The outcome was clear:
- All inspections passed
- No remedial works were required
- Installations were delivered tidy and technically sound
- The project progressed smoothly through to final handover
