Leading Passive Fire Standards in NZ

Raising the Standard in Passive Fire Certification in New Zealand

🎥 Here our founder Awen Guttenbeil shares why Passive Fire NZ continues to invest in raising the benchmark for passive fire protection in New Zealand.

It’s in our DNA to lead from the front. To push for better. And, we’re open to the stress test 💪

That’s why we challenge ourselves with certification processes as often as we can – and it’s how we have become New Zealand’s most certified passive fire company.

In construction, compliance is often treated as the finish line. But – at Passive Fire NZ, we see it as the starting point.

Rigorous process and documentation aren’t something we add on at the end of a project. They’re part of our DNA – embedded in the way we operate, the way we train our teams, and the way we deliver work on site.

Today, Passive Fire NZ remains the only passive fire protection company in New Zealand operating with three internationally recognised ISO certifications:

• ISO 9001 – Quality Management
• ISO 14001 – Environmental Management
• ISO 45001 – Health & Safety

Alongside this, as we shared recently here, our team achieved SiteWise Gold with a 100% score (boom!) recognising the strength of our health and safety systems on construction sites.

These certifications are independently audited and reflect the structured processes, clear documentation, and disciplined quality assurance that underpin every project we deliver.

We welcome the challenge because projects that demand higher standards – including Green Star buildings – rely on this level of rigour. And rightly so. Long-term building performance depends on the quality of the systems installed behind the scenes.
