Sustainable Safety: Passive Fire NZ Protection in Highbury Triangle

The Highbury Triangle in Avondale is one of Kāinga Ora’s most ambitious builds: five apartment buildings, 236 homes and a strong focus on sustainability.
With a 7 star Homestar rating to its name, this project isn’t just about creating homes that are good for people – but also for the planet too. So, at Passive Fire we felt pretty stoked about being part of this project.
This build focused on high levels of deconstruction (taking apart the previous homes and reusing the materials), energy-efficient construction and prioritising the creation of warmer and healthier homes. The CMP team also led a focus on reducing environmental impact through water and energy efficiency, and promoting low-carbon transport options.
At Passive Fire we are proud holders of an ISO Environmental 14001 certification. We worked very hard to achieve this – so this type of work is right up our alley.
As an industry, we all know there are big challenges when it comes to sustainable solutions. As a team we just try to focus on the small steps we can take regularly. We actively pitch for these types of builds because we really want to be a part of work like this. We uphold our 14001 with rigour & pride.
Our site manager Eru Ramsay really enjoyed working with the legends at CMP Construction Limited, Project Lead Matt Prumm – and the impressive Architectus on this build.
Keep up the epic mahi team!
We’re proud to have been a part of it.
