Peace of Mind in Every Detail: Passive Fire NZ at Summerset Retirement Village

We are just about to wrap on Stage 9 of the sensational Summerset St Johns Village and what a project to be part of! Since day one, back in 2019, the Passive Fire NZ team has had a real soft spot for this build so we’re stoked to celebrate this milestone alongside Greg Deuchar, the Summerset Retirement Villages crew and Surefire| Fire Engineering.
Maybe it’s the pristine views across the Waitematā. Maybe it’s the buzz of watching 2.6 hectares transform or maybe (let’s be honest) it was the penthouse! Whatever it was, we’re really proud to have played a part in shaping a special place for community members as they move into their next phase of life. It’s a beautiful space.
When it comes to firestopping in retirement villages (or any high-density residential build), the critical thing we consider is “time”. At Passive Fire NZ we are buying people time. Because, when you’ve got high volumes of people and some of our more vulnerable whānau onsite, time matters. Risks are high and every second counts. Quality passive fire protection gives comfort and peace of mind when it comes to buying that time. And we spent a lot of time ourselves creating that – a combined total of 13031 hours actually! Our expert crew, led by Project Manager Dean Kouka-Smith, fire-stopped 16000+ penetrations across 6 buildings, achieving the highest standard of compliant certified passive fire protection. Crew members Mason Kouka-Smith and Troy Anderson passing their L3 certs while on this project. Congrats guys!
