The Details That Keep People Safe

Delivering Detail-Driven Fire Protection at Summerset Cambridge

Passive Fire NZ site team vehicles at Summerset Cambridge Village during installation of passive fire protection systems.

Buildings that care about people deserve fire protection that cares just as much. It’s a great feeling to reflect on those enjoying the spaces we have contributed to, particularly at this time of year.

At Summerset Cambridge, we dealt with more than just walls and floors – we delivered over 10,000 fire-stopping pins and collars across the village. Pipes, cables, services – every penetration had to be sealed, fire-rated, and aligned to meet code.

Why does that matter?

Because passive fire protection isn’t about one neat line on one wall. It’s about every gap, every joint, every service run being properly sealed – so fire and smoke can’t spread unnoticed – and residents and their families can rest easy.

It wasn’t easy – but that’s the point.
Good fire protection rarely is.

Attention to detail buys people time. Time to exit, to respond, time to protect what matters most – and time together.

We’re proud of the way everyone pulled together – design team, contractors, trades, supply chain, site crew – to make sure safety was built in, not added on.

You can read more about this project along with others we are proud of on our website. This year we’ve worked out to get refreshed project pages up on our site – and it’s awesome to reflect. (Link is in comments below).

Thanks for having us Summerset Retirement Villages Cambridge, wishing all residents and extended whānau a happy holiday season.

Cheers to Dean Kouka-Smith, Al and the crew for leading this project for Passive Fire NZ.
